I was wondering what king of system would i be looking at to be able to run current games like CSS/BF2/FEAR/Stalker + coming games like crysis on a 30" TFT.

Is gaming with AA/AF and all the fancy options turned up on such a large screen really doable even with the latest card/s or is it something i should just forget about?

Are you talking a TV or a PC monitor though? a TV has a res of either 1366x860 (sometimes rarely 1280x720) or 1920x1080 if it is a 1080P tv.

30" monitors have a res of 2560

all depends what ress u play everything at. if its only 720p or something a gts would do fine atm, and a gtx would last longer. for example if its a tv it will be 1366x720 or 1920x1080, but monitors that size have insane resolutions

^like above ;)

also if you are gonna go crossfire or sli i think cross fire performs better but not 100% sure on that one

I have a Dell 30" 3007fwp-hc and love it for games. I don't have the latest card (7800 GTX 512 EE) but simply drop it down a few resolutions. Ok, native res of 2560x1600 is better but it's great regardless. The size is very imersive.

might be best waiting for a G92 card which will be three times as good as a 8800GTX

and if you want it for crysis one G92 will do fine, or two if your greedy :D

I wouldn't like to try playing the new Colin Mcrae Dirt game at 2560 x 1600 with AA/AF on and all the detail settings turned up to max...

You may get 15fps if your lucky :p

For a 30" monitor of resolution 2560x1600 you could actually drop down the resolution to 1280x800 and it won't look so bad since each pixel will actually be made up of four screen pixels. Yeah it will look really blocky but with say an 8800GTS you could slap on 8x/16x AA which would smoothen things out considerably.

It won't be 3x as good, no GPU ever released has ever been near 3x as fast as the previous. Big jumps are usually 1.5-1.8x. Don't go by the GFLOP rate either, since the official NV line on the GTX has it a lottle over 500GFLOPs.

Go for a 40" HDTV as only 1366x768 so much less pixels to render and you get the bigger screen real estate albeit at a lower res.

Had mine for a few months and can no longer play games on my Dell 2405WS TFT as the scale is tiny compared to the 40" HDTV.

To render @ native on a 30" TFT will require 8800GTX SLI if you want to future proof yourself now as games are obviously going to get more graphically complex so current hardware will struggle @ higher res in future but if you are only rendering less than 50% of the pixels with 1366x768 then it will have a much longer lifespan and you will save almost double the money as 8800GTX SLI + the right PSU/CPU etc etc is not cheap yet any recent gfx card with even a mid range CPU will power a HDTV fine even with full details + AA + AF etc etc.

Just bought another Samsung 40" R87 HDTV and the picture even though it is only 720P/1080i max is stunning on PS3/X360 & an older mid range PC with only an X1950 pro (which I will be upgrading shortly to a single 8800GTX Ultra).

I am tempted by one of these monitors. Playing Pro Evo 6 at ultra high res I want to experience. Overtime at work I think.
