Hi guys,

Just looking for recommendations on the above. I know almost nothing about monitors but would like a higher resolution and a larger screen!

Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks in advance,

dirtychinchilla

edit: so I’ve been looking around and clarified that I’m aiming for ultra wide, 1440p, ideally curved, for under £400. I don’t think it’s achievable honestly...

however, if I don’t go curved then the Samsung C34J550 seems like a good buy

Additional question, any that fit my criteria with a built in KVM?
There's a couple options.

A few VA 34" curved, but with the typical VA drawbacks (slow dark level response times - smearing).
A couple flat IPS, a bit faster than VA but not as fast as LG's nano-IPS panels (these are £1000).
A couple IPS productivity monitors, limited to 75hz or 60hz.

I think there's a Philips with a KVM built in.

Honest, for that money there are no fast, curved ultra-wides. I've been looking for a while.

IPS+fast+curved = £1000
VA+slow+curved = £400+
IPS+flat = £400+
IPS+slow+curved = £400+

The trouble with the top end, fast IPS screens is that they tend to be GSync ultimate, which adds a couple hundred to the price. Eg the Acer, Alienware.

If only they'd cut out the damn GSync module they'd probably be a fair bit cheaper.

Also the old GSync displays can't be used for VRR with AMD GPUs. So not only would AMD users be paying more they'd actually lose VRR in the process. Sucks, really.

thanks for the comprehensive reply, Foxeye. I came to somewhat of a similar conclusion. I’m not too worried about fast as although I play games, they’re mostly RPGs. So I went for the dell that Triedandtested recommended. It seems like a decent balance for the money
