£300-£500 Spec please :)

i'd get this over the sparkle psu (dont trust them)

Hiper HPU-4K580-MK Type R 580W Modular ATX2.2 PSU

approx same price (fiver more)

case is good (Lian-Li PC-7 ) but get the corrisponing colour to your needs , i.e what colour is your dvd drives? black? then get black.

i think the best motherboard going is this:

Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

but i might be wrong.

ram , chip and gfx are the same as i speced before so must be good;)

so yeah, go for it ... you'll be very happy when it comes:)

Yeah, I wouldn't go with the Hiper. You may have had one bad FSP but I bet it didn't kill anything.

I added he silver 'cos it is in stock, couldn't add the black.

The P5N-E SLi is nearly as good an overclocker, will do 400mhz easy (which is all the e4300 needs) but it can change the RAM speed to whatever you like (both below and above the FSB) and supports SLi which could be a bonus. Either ones a decent choice though.

FSP are an excellent make, they supply a lot of the large companies. For example the OCZ Gamexstream are rebranded FSP epsilons.

Seasonic are better and the 430w one for £50 is a great PSU, might not be very future proof though (DX10 in mind, I'll probably have to upgrade mine if I get an R600/G80).

The PSU I currently have is 430W anyway so wouldn't be much of an upgrade..
Ok, but what version - 1.3 or 2.xx? Though, if not the latter there are workarounds/solutions, except obviously split +12V Rail(s) :)

Can anyone (hp7909?) fill me on on which kind of PSU I have based on the link I gave and whether it would suffice for the new build?

ATX 1.3 :( Better budget for a new PSU, & any of this (in no particular order):
  • Tagan
  • Corsair/Seasonic
  • Enermax
  • FSP Sparkle
  • OCZ
