£300 bottle of whisky for less than £50

Not sure all those extra years sitting in the same cask are going to add that much to the flavour but alright :p! Best whisky I've ever had was the 6 year old Port Charlotte. Had a chance to buy a couple of bottles for £70 each which I didn't take up. Now in the very, very unlikely event that you can find one of the few remaining bottles, they go for hundreds :(.

i wonder if they intentionally leave the whiskey for 40 years? or do they find it at the back of the cellar?

is whiskey being bottled today with the intention of keeping it for 40 years?

It's intentional, whiskey and the like get better with age. Supposedly, can't say I'm a fan of dark spirits,
I'll stick with vodka thanks.

It's aged in the cask, not in the bottle. And yes they are intentionally aged, it changes the flavour substantially. It's worth noting this isn't a well known whisky and the distillery where it was distilled by appears to have some links with Aldi already, so I'm not sure where the £300 valuation comes from.

They'll be sold out of the £50 one, I guarantee it. BUT they will have some 24 year old whisky ;)

If you're buying for taste rather than the '40 year old' statement then I'd suggest you could do better with other single malts.

Don't base this deal on the random £300 valuation.

The distillery makes a big difference, the Aldi one is from an "unnamed" distillery.

Yes i agree but an "unnamed" distillery" that has bottled 3000 bottles it aint uncle Amish in his garden shed it will be a company that has also other ages available....... so yea not top notch but not bad......

will go well with come coke LOL

A friend of mine used to be a bartender in Vegas. He had a guy come up him at the bar once and ask for Louis XIII Cognac with coke - he just refused to serve it to him.
