So, I managed to sweet talk the missus into a bit of an upgrade.

My budget has altered and I have already sourced some components so my thread from earlier in the week in invalid.

I'm after a MB, CPU and RAM, probably an aftermarket cooler too... I don't game an enormous amount anymore, but plan on getting the Witcher 3 when it is out. I've already purchased a 2nd hand HD7950 to help with this as well as a new EVGA 750 G2 for a PSU. I will also be keeping my current case, SSD and HDD. Will be gaming at 1080p.

Suggestions welcome as I don't really have any idea which MB I should be looking at for the money these days.

Thanks.

Case is a lian-li, but I've had it so long I couldn't tell you the model number. Closest equivalent I can find on the site is the "PC-8NB Midi Case" https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-174-LL&groupid=2362&catid=187

SSD wise I currently have 128gb Vertex 2e, but was going to swap in a 256 Vertex 4.

Mainly use it for work these days which is mostly Office based stuff. But would like it to perform well in games such as Witcher 3 and GTA 5.

Excellent, thx for the quick response :)

I'm thinking the 2nd option would be the better of the two, given how much I actually get to game these days, I can't see much point in me overclocking, so the stock cooler will probably do. Can always change it at a later date.

I think I'd like to keep the option open tbh. So your 2nd bundle seems more up my street. Is the board (Gigabyte Z97X-SLI) missing anything I might want/need in the future? i.e. What do the £200 Z97 Gigabyte boards have that this doesn't?
