£300 for a gaming screen

Don't know, but I've got the SM226BW and I don't regret a single penny of it (£210). I'd say get mine, and then use the money you save to put towards a better gfx card - remember that you're going to be upping your native res...

Thanks for the replies, that's a good point about having to up the res, I hadn't even given it any thought - I guess at 24" you pretty much HAVE to go 1920 x 1200?

Hmmm... The SM226BW looks nice I must admit, but it is only a 22" screen though, I really wanted to go for the 24".

As far as my gfx card is concerned; I have a 8800GTS 640mb so I am hoping it should cope?

Pretty much anything will cope, it's what you want to run that's the question ;). The GTS isn't a hugely powerful card, so it all depends on your final use.

With any TFT monitor, if you don't run at the native res it's going to look rubbish, the picture quality degrades massively.

Like I say; it's for games. I currently run most games on a 22" CRT at 1600x1200 and it ticks along pretty nice... I appreciate my card aint exactly cutting edge technology but it should be able to cope amicably I would have thought.

Anyone have comparable spec?

1920x1200 will not do you any favours with said gfx card though. I have two LCD's, one on mentioned res and other runs 1680x1050, the latter is about the same as 1600x1200 and my GTS ticks along fine (Edit: Btw i use to have 640GTS, same applies). :)
