I downloaded it last night, I've seen hi-def stuff before and this does look nice, shame I've seen 300 before though and didn't really like it then either.

Glad i didnt pay full wack for that.

Awful quality, very noisey and grainy. Not even Dolby Digitally encoded so had to force my amp receiver to do pro logic which never sounds as good as a proper encoded signal.

Doesnt even look HD, a DVD upscaled looks better on my PS3 or a upscaling DVD player.

Anyone else problems watching this?

I watched it last night, well just over half of it anyway. It stopped after 1:09:57 saying i needed to download the rest. Try to start the download again and it says, "Can't download 300". If I got to try and delete it to start it again it says there is still time left on this rental and if I delete it now I'll have to wait till after the rental expires before I can download it again AND I will have to pay for it. I think the download messed up during the Live problems on Friday night, even though it says the film is fully downloaded and 5.2gb in size.

Again, anyone else have this or a similar problem? What can be done about it?

My download messed up during the Live problems. I had about 78% so was able to stream and watch some of it (In hindsight I shouldn't have as the 24hr counter started at that point).. As a result there was no way I could finish the download in time.

Sounds like a bit of a ****-up all in all. I think I'll wait a few months for MS to sort out the teething problems and the content before I try 'renting' some HD films.

Apart from the fact that I couldn't start the download until 20:15ish on the 28th, this all went smoothly for me.

Watched it last night, no problems. Wasn't a great film but it killed a couple of hours after the kids had gone to bed.

Also got to watch it last night, pretty good film, and was very impressed by the quality, not grainy at all, crisp, clear and smooth...

Your kidding me?

The amount of noise on screen at a time was shocking!

Compare this to a proper 50GB Blu Ray or HD DVD it is terrible. Casino Royale on Blu Ray is stunning!

Would have to disagree with you, I read about the noise and thought I would be disappointed with the quality, but running it through a VGA cable onto a 42" plasma it looked lush with no noise or graininess. Crisp and clear as I said. I suspect each setup must be different

Is your plasma 720p or 1080p in pixels (natively). A plasma with a non HD native res and some decent scaling/settings would reduce the noise, but this film is supposed to have Grain in it (whether you get the downloaded, HD-DVD or Blu-Ray version). It's some stylised rubbish which I would expect to see in older films rather than a showcase for HD/SFX etc that 300 is. It isn't disappointing as such, as it is meant to be in there, but it is no way "reference material" ala Spiderman 3 or POTC movies on Blu-Ray (High bitrate movies 25GB+ video, no grain, HD sound).

1080P

There was the grain built into the film, but it wasn't noticeable or annoying, I would say it added to the style of the film.

It definitely wasn't grain i was seeing.

It was terrible. Looked like really bad compression to me.

I have 300 on Blu-Ray and there wasn't much of a drop in quality with the 360 dl'd one, apart from the audio of course..
