"300" for only 120ms Points

Tonight!!! We DINE IN HELLL!!!

Jeez I can't believe these are 2.0 sound, if they are what the hell is the point in calling it HD if the sound weighs down the quality and I know HD refers to the picture not sound but that does jusitfy the fact that it's 2 point bloddy 0 sound!!!! Jeeez, might as well watch it on VHS!!

Aren't these downloads like 6/7GB in file size? and all at 720p? Must have a high bitrate, I want samples!!

Just to clarify, is the normal 300 you can get today for full price 5.1 sound, or are we saying all of the movies in HD on Marketplace are 2.0 sound?

The real 300 on HD-DVD/DVD is 5.1. I'm not sure if all the movies on the MP are 2.0 but seeing how this is 2.0 I don't see why all the others would differ.

Looks like quite sensibly these films are in 720p HD rather than 1080p as the download file sizes would be in excess of 20gb in 1080p so you could not really make a spontaneous purchase to watch a film as it would take hours to download even on fast broadband.

i got the 1080p version on my pc, although my pc screen is only 1680 x1050 it looked stunning, it was also compressed (encoded to MP4 i think) so it wasnt true 1080p but only takes up 3.42GB

It's only a rental thou, you can buy the DVD for £3.99 online at the moment.

Obviously if you have never seen it, £1 is a bargain for rental, much cheaper than any rental places.

It also has heavy added grain on the hd-dvd version of it, i stuck it on last night as it came with my chrimbo present, a bit disapointing.
That's what I was referring to. I can't stand the stuff and iirc the HD-DVD and Blu-ray versions are smothered in the stuff. If you aren't a fan of grain then it really ruins your viewing.

I know why they put grain on stuff like this, there is no grain on King Kong, and to me watching that it looks like they are all just working in front of a blue screen, which of course they are, graining it up makes it less lifelike and less like bluescreen work.

I think the grain effect gives it that old realistic feel and due to where the movie is set, in the sandy desert place I'd say thats a reason for the grain effect.

I think they could offer both 720p and 1080p versions ... 1080p would be a little more MS points but if you've got a 1080p set ... what's stopping you? ... 720p would save on bandwidth for those who don't really need the extra powah! ... but 2.0 sound!!! if I wanted 2.0 I'd rent it on VHS!!! :(

I do think MS has gone in a good direction with movie rental it gives it a good media advantage - kinda like Sky films PPV, store up some MS points and one day just rent out a movie over LIVE. Only problem is not everyone has fast internets, downloading a movie could take well over a few hours!!! (OMGZ) so you'd have to plan it alittle earlier in the day.

Really ****** off about this, was waiting for it to drop to 100 points, funny how the SD went to 100 at midnight yet they are having "problems" to make HD 100 points

Pretty pathetic excuse that they can't just edit a value in the database they use isnt it?

They should offer a freeeee movie as a promotion for about 6 hours or something I'm sure if people see the beauty of it then they are more likely to try it in the future!!!
