I am looking to build a new Computer for the family for around £300 or less.

The computer uses would mostly be internet, e-mail, word processing and facebook games.

Monitor, Mouse, Keyboard and Speakers not needed.

This is what i have in mind,
(i don't know how to share a basket like others do in this forum so here is a screenshot!)

I was wondering mostly about the compatibilities with each component and if i have picked a good value for money selection within the budget i have.

Also, for my own computer, i want to replace my AMD R9270 for around £150-£180 Nvidia wanted, i was thinking GTX 960?

Hi. Here are a few thoughts.

-If the family pc is only used for low workload scenarios, then it would benefit greatly from a smaller SSD instead of a 1TB HDD.

-There really is no need for a GT720 dedicated GPU, just use the integrated GPU and get a decent dedicated GPU later if required or go without it. The GT720 is no good.

-Is the dvd drive necessary? It is a bit like VHS these days. If you have one DVD drive somewhere in the home it is usually good enough. Depends on your situation though.

-With regards to your upgrade from a R9270 to a GTX 960. Your budget is so close to a GTX 970 that it is very hard to recommend a GTX 960. Use the money you saved from the recommendations above and get a GTX 970 instead. It is much faster!

All the items should work together fine.

If I were you I would swap the CPU for this one as its £49.99 at the moment and better than the G3240
Intel Pentium K Anniversary G3258 Socket LGA1150 Processor - Retail - £49.99

I would also ditch the nvidia card as per above and use the onboard HD graphics on the G3258.

I would then use the extra money and get a better motherboard..
Gigabyte Z97P-D3 Intel Z97 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard - £61.99

Then you at least had the option of overclocking the CPU more if you wanted.

Keep the 1TB hard drive for data and add an SSD for your Windows drive
Crucial BX100 120GB SSD SATA 6Gbps 7mm Solid State Drive - £46.99

and you still will be under budget.
