Hi guys, looking for a 300 quid laptop max budget, for an 11 year old set for high school soon, something to do homework on etc. Doesn't have to be a gaming machine but perhaps something which is snappy and will last a while performance wise.

Any good makes and models I should be looking at? :)

Thanks.

I've been looking for something similar. At the moment I'm deciding between:

ASUS X555LA

Lenovo B50-70

They both have this spec:

15.6" Display LCD HD Display
1.9 GHz Intel Core i3 Processor
4 GB Memory
1 TB HDD Storage (Asus) 500GB HDD (Lenovo)
Windows 8.1

I'd go for a Chromebook personally, unless they desperately want to play Minecraft ect on them.

Otherwise I'd look for a refurb Thinkpad. You can get one with an i5 and a small SSD with a new battery for around that. Have a look on the bay.

Hi there thanks for the replies guys. I'll take a look, I think it would be best to get something with a 15.6" screen ultimately. Will check all models mentioned though :)

It might also be worth checking the refurbished offers from a popular high street/shopping park retailer. There are some OK deals on there at around the £300 mark.

I've just got one from there with a £600 HP laptop for about £270 (though the same refurbished model is advertised at £329 now).

If you google the retailers name and 'refurbished' then that should bring the page up.
