Completely lost...so much choice.

Just want the best 24-27" 1080p FPS gaming monitor for £300, could stretch a little further.

I know the BEST is in some ways subjective but I would love some advice/options.

Cheers

Don't own either of these, but from my own readings...

Viewsonic XG2401 1920x1080 24",TN panel,144Hz,Freesync
Least advanced panel type (TN), but makes the best use of it.
Probably the one you want for balance of responsiveness and motion clarity in gaming, yet still gives generally good performance in terms of colour and contrast handling.

Samsung C24FG70 1920x1080 24",VA panel,144Hz,Freesync
VA panel with quantum dot gives much better contrast and wider colour gamut than TN but has slower pixel transitions.
The 24FG70 tries to combat VA's slow transitions, and manages pretty well for the most part, but seeing rather a lot of discussion about colour fringing occurring in certain circumstances when gaming at certain refresh rates.
Seems to vary between individual examples of each C24FG70, so a bit of a lottery.
Does have a backlight strobing mode which does enhance motion clarity a lot though I think there are limitiations put on what refresh rate or brightness settings can be used when this is enabled.

Check the reviews on each at pcmonitors.info. He does go into a lot of detail.

Would probably have bought the XG2401 myself by now, but for 1080 lines feeling like a step backwards.
Waiting for something worthwhile at 27"/1440 lines.
