£300 now or later?

Want to upgrade from my GTX460. Seems like the best thing to upgrade from the gaming perspective.

Should I wait a month or so? Seen a few threads about new cards/predicted price drops.

If not, what would give me a marked improvement?

Will likely start saving pennies for a new mobo/i5 from the sale of the old card.

Same here, except my urge to upgrade is HUGE. I have been waiting roughly since march.

Wanted to jump on the i5 wagon, but waited to see what bulldozer was going to be like, now holding off for the price drop on those and on graphics card due too the new 7 series.

I have a less of an urge for a smoke (I am trying to quit)

If not, try and pick up something used for between £100 and £150 and sell your 460.

As my 6950 2gb is the same price now (pretty much) as it was when I got it on release day circa 13 months ago, I would not pay full whack for a soon-to-be-outdated card.

unless you got a card ^^^^ like one of the next get top models wouldnt be any point anyway

7870 will just be like a rehashed 6970 little faster less power but similar performance. i wouldnt go from a 6950 to that.

so youll need a £300 card minimum to notice any real difference.

Yep you are quite correct. I just get bored when away with work and start making silly lists of things I'll buy when i get back...then i fire up my current system when i get home and realise it will do the job!

If its only 30-40 quid i will just buy now.

Definitely wait. A 1GB 460 is still an admirable performer, even at 1080p with max settings in a large amount of games.

If you have not done so already get the gtx460 overclocked. You should be able to get somewhere near the performance of a gtx470-5870 if its a good one. Will be like a mini upgrade.

why would you upgrade for swtor.. a 460 already gets over 60fps in it anyway
