£300 photography setup, any idea?

Been into photography for about 5 months now but only been using a friend's camera. I'm looking to buy my own camera and was wondering if anyone might have any idea about what I should be going for. I'm on a tight budget of about £300. All help appreciated.

I think, to get the most for your money, you will probably want to look at the second hand market.

Also, what camera were you using? Do you want one similar? If you can let us know this then we might be able to help a little more.
