Hey guys,

Have £300 to spend on getting a nuber of bits and was after your expert recommendations.

I have a Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse, 6800GT sitting about. Would this be ok as I'm not too clued up?

Looks good to me.

EDIT: So long as the 6800GT is PCI-e rather than AGP. ;)

You would be correct sir. Also will this be ok for gaming, or would a different component or two help greatly?

Cheers.

It'd be good for gaming so long as you overclock the CPU. It's a good match for your GPU and you'd do very well with it. You could go faster with a few different parts but that would raise the cost significantly. For a £300 spec it's quite good, IMO.

I don't think there would be anything you could change there to improve gaming, next time some cash falls your way go for an 8800 and you will have a pretty sweet gaming pc (with some overclocking of course)

Ah right, well that may be a problem then as I am a little apprehensive about overclocking (namely due to my lack of said subject) so may look at upping the CPU with a few extra pounds.

Time to learn. It's quite easy these days and is certainly worth the money saved. 2.5-2.7 shouldn't be too tough on that CPU. Perhaps you could go for an aftermaket cooler like the Scythe Ninja, Tuniq Tower, or Noctua NH-U12F. Put the money towards an 8800 GTS. :)

OK guys,

What do you think of this, it is going to be a gaming rig and as said before I have a number of bits already so trying to get the best I can for the £350 mark.
