£300 to spend sound system

Are you after Sound Card + Speakers or just after speakers.

If both i'd go for X-Fi Xtreme Music and Logitech Z-5500's. Thats what i'd do with the money.

OR are you considering looking for a Hi-Fi setup?
 
£300 will easily get a quality 2nd hand amp and decent 2nd hand or new bookshelf hi-fi speakers, along with some stands if you need them (depending on how the speakers sound sat on a PC desk - probably not too great) and cables.

If I wire my PC to my hi-fi (Marantz PM66-SE, Marantz CD5000, Eltax Monitor 3, Atacama SE24) games sound awesome. That lot cost me under £250 from ebay, less without the CDP which you wouldn't need.

Just make sure to get shielded speakers if you have a CRT.
 
I still wonder why people bother to look on a computer website for a sound system. Would you go to a bookshop to buy a TV?

Sure, OcUK sell some decent stuff, but for £300 you could get a nice hi-fi system which would be leaps and bounds better than any PC setup.
 
yea i would go for that option but i no nothing about sound systems. :/ so i just buy the highest price one and hope it sounds good? could some one name me a good amp / modle number + speakers??
