£300 Upgrade

Hey my first post

Been here since october lol

I want to upgrade my pc for £300 as in title preferably to play ARMA II smoothly ish.

Current spec is

Intel E670 2.66Ghz

2GB OCZ ram

8800GTS 640MB

500W PSU

Gigabyte MATX Motherboard

ThermalTake Lanbox

A 4870/GTX260 defo

then either overclock your CPU and invest in 3rd party cooling

or

get a newer faster chip E8500/Q9550

and get 4Gb of RAM

4870x2 (if it will fit in your case) + 2gb more ram im thinking (if you have 4 slots)

I was kinda hoping to know what would fit in my case in the way of graphics cards etc if any of you know ?

if that GTS fits most cards will but here is a shopping lst for you

but erm what brand is your PSU?

should be able to clock ur cpu to 3ghz np

not bad. i might go with that, will i need that cpu cooler to overclock my processor ?

What you think about my temps aswell are they ok to for what i have.

yeah thats my concern, I have a normal case i could use but need a motherboard, is there a way to transfer to a bigger case without a lot of extra price ?

Well I've got a C2D 6850 that on stock speed with the Intel HSF that comes with the processor, was running at:

Idle: 45
Load: 66

inside a crappy case with one asthmatic 80mm exhaust fan.

So your temps look a little high. What are you getting on load? I would say go with the Nero, it's supposed to be good. As is my Sunbeam. But def go for a new cooler too.

I was thinking of doing a little media project for my room to have a Blu Ray Media Centre out of the spares from my PC ?

just get cheap bits .

But wahhh im still thinking in a confused way
