£300 upgrade

Geta Solid state drive, id say the X32 intel 32G SSD if OCuk has any. Also i have 2 choices

1. sell your 4850 for roughly £40-£60 and geta 5850
or
2. Get a new set of Kingston 2x2 Pc8500 and get a 5770 then another in the future (if your PSU can handle it)
or if you can get another £30 you can get a whole i5 setup!

I am sort of leaning towards getting an SSD and possibly a 5850 or a new case
 
yeh id say the best performance you can get is from the 5850/5770 setup and an SSD, the 2 5770s should work on the SLI psu and it will give you a big boost compared to the 5850, roughly in between the 5850/5870 performance range, sometimes beating the 5870.
