My spec is in my sig and think its time for a little upgrade, specifically the motherboard as the one I have has been a hinderness since day 1.

So option 1, I'm looking at the Asus P5Q Turbo @ £91, Is this a good choice when coming to overclocking i.e will I be able to obtain more than 3.0Ghz than my current board?

If I do go for that option the remainder of the budget will go on a OcUK Value GTX285 @ £219 (if they come back in stock).

Another question then is can I use my old GPU for some kind of phsyics etc. with the above two items?, is it worth it?, whats the power consumption?

or option 2, an i5 setup CPU, MB, RAM for £300 (ish) and keeping the 8800GTX until nvidia pull out their dx11 card!

My PSU is a Hiper 630W , nah its been surprisingly ok and my RAM is 2x2GB 8500 OCZ Gold and 2x1GB OCZ Sli.

So what do you think OcUK?

I think that nothing's guaranteed, so you could get any motherboard you like, but if your specific cpu (not the model, the actual chip) isnt up to it, then you just wont get any more out of it.
So even if the board is a good choice when it comes to overclocking (i've read good things about it, but have never used it myself so couldnt say anything more) you may not get any more out of your 6750..

I would suggest to go for an AM3 setup it will be more future proofing than sk 1156 as some say that this socket will be outdated in a year.

The board supports 3-Ways SLI and AM3 and its more future proofing for any nvidia GPU that you will want to use and SLI and for any future AM3 CPU that will come out.
