Could a poor PSU stop Graphics cards working properly artefacts etc. ?

Usually artifacts are faulty gpu, can you test the gpu in another system.

Artifacts are normally down to overheating issues or failing gpu.

A flaky PSU would most likely cause gpu crashes or system hangs but can also just blow up and incinerate your components as it goes.

300w isn't much by today's standards. What sort of system is it?

I sent the card back anyhoo so doesn't really matter just wondered if it was a fault my end. They (not oveclockers) are reselling the card anyway.
