Hi all.

I finally need to update my old Q6600 system. I really don't want to change the psu though I've had it 8 years. How long do they last for? As you can probably tell I don't play games! Not bothered about overclocking I done that in my youth.

Have only got £300. Need cpu, ram (8 or 16?) & mATX motherboard & cheap graphics card - though this can wait.

You can use the onboard graphics as you are not gaming.

depends on what you're doing with the PC. you can always add RAM later.

I would be thinking SSD and replacing that PSU rather sooner than later.

Good point a SSD as well will make your system so much faster , 8 gb of ram is enough.
