at the moment i hae a 64bit sempron 3000 in my laptop, and can get hold of a reasonable priced 64 3200+ 2.0 GHz 1M L2, will i notice much difference?
its a socket 754 so i am limited by my upgrade path

It will be a boost, but whether you would actually notice or not I don't know. It would make it easier to sell later though.

If its a good price, go for it :)
