Hi posted this in the hard ware thread and posting here, suggested by Hyburnate, want a Gaming machine that will run 3x30"Eyefinity monitors , play FPS and Dirt3, and some flight Sims, 50% and will start doing Video editing and compressing to time lapse hours/Days of footage to mins.
Looking around at some threads see with driving eyefinity machine and over clocking there is a lot of heat produced so am looking at water cooling and a total build
Newbie so any help advice would be great £3000 is for the machine will more than likely get Oc.uk to build it.
So questions how much cooling would I need if any and what options would you suggest for this build
Thanks

Do you want looks as well as performance or do you not care about looks? Watercooling a CPU gives you good performance and looks, but water cooling a motherboard only gives you good looks as the added performance isn't necearry

There's a lot of factors here, what sort of resolution do you want these monitors to output? If I were you I would stick with a single monitor high resolution like 1600p/1440p. This would reduce the cost of extra graphics cards and watercooling equipment for them.

Any video editing and compressing will run very well on a 2600k. Which is a small percentage of your budget too. You will need a fairly large case to watercool. Something like a 800D would suit you.

If your dead cert on going for triple monitor then I would suggest you look at 1080p for them which is fairly common, spec up some nice monitors (under a 1000 for all three), as you will probably need a couple of high end gpus.

Hope this helps

Hi Stueng, more interested in performance than looks, so dont mind a large case, see some case have cut out and all , again i want it to preform first and to play on 3 monitors for Gaming , so what would you suggest ? Was looking at the water cooled GTX 580 what do you think ?
Herecy like the look of the eyefinity set up, but can see what you mean tho , thanks was thinking or 3x30" Dell Ultrasharps unless you can suggest on large monitor that would give over 2000p if there is anything out there. Have been playing on a 60" 1080p so gotten used to the size but that machine is getting old so time to up grade.
Would it be a good idea for me to email Oc.Uk with my plan and see what they think ? or shoud i wait for them to post to my questions here ?
Thanks again guys

Stick to the forums for now till you have a solid idea.

Okay dell ultrasharp u3011 is one of the best monitors in the field IMO but it costs like 1k. So your not getting 3 of them. I would stick with one of those, it does 2560*1600, which is huge (basically what I use so trust me :))

This is really going to cut costs down on the graphics cards as well so you can have a nice 256gb ssd for performance, a fancy case, whatever...

Your call though! If I were you I would re-evaluate having 3*30's.

or, have 3 Samsung S27A950D's :D

This is the watercooling forum... no ignoring everything else and concentrating just on watercooling... I am new to this so I will make some comments that others can correct since nobody is actually on topic here yet

You want to watercool your GFX cards so make you buy cards that already have WC blocks or make sure you buy reference design cards that you can find a block for. Go to the EK Blocks website, go to their shop and browse by GPU block and base your decision on what blocks are available. There is no point in spending extra cash on "super clocked" boards or "20% cooler" or any of those other marketing gizmos since you will be watercooling and overclocking yourself

To cool 3 X GPU and 1 X CPU you will need 480mm of radiator space at least. To be safe, bank on 1 X 360 and 1 X 280. Use the 360mm to cool the three cards and the 280 to cool the CPU. Hardwarelabs Blackice seem to get recommended a lot

Other watercooling requirements include:

Fans for the radiator one for every 120mm of radiator space
Reservoir (I would suggest one that mounts in a 5.25 bay so you can easily top it up and see the liquid)
Pump
Tubing (what colour do you want)
Compression Fittings (what colour do you want)
CPU Block (EK Supreme get recommended a lot)
Do you want a fan controller?
Watercooling liquid ((what colour do you want)

I'm not sure he's even decided on how many gpu's he's having, so deciding on how many radiators, fans, pumps necessary, how restrictive the loop will be, etc. is a bit premature...

Guys keep it to watercooling only, we don't want this thread to be closed.

I'd set aside about £300 - £350 for the loop.

Its hard to source a 6990 block, a 590 block is about £110 whereas a 580 block is only £80.

So if your going to stick to one screen then go with the 580, that then helps to bring down the cost.

So if I was you, go over to the General Discussion and get them to spec you a rig with a 580 and a 27" Monitor or 30" monitor for around 2500 but with no performance loss. Then come back and people here can get you a decent watercooling spec.

He means general hardware ;)

But he's right

Case - Xigmatek Elysium or TJ07.

You need as much rad space as possible. If you can stretch to a MountainMods U2 case

For quadfire, which you will need for 3*30", I would go dual loop. One for 3xGFX, and one for 1xGFX, CPU and whatever else you want to cool. Which means 2xLaing D5 pumps, two reservoirs, and a lot of tubing and fittings. For the GFX loop I would suggest a 480mm rad at least, if possible get a 480 and a 240 with push pull fans for maximum heat dissipation. For the CPU and GFX loop, I would go with a 360mm rad. This will all fit comfortably in the TJ07.

Read the watercooling guide in this subforum for more help, and ak me if you have any questions regarding loop setup. If you live near me I'll even build it for you for free :)

I think 3k budget for a full on tri setup inc watercooling and 3x 30" monitors is far too much of a stretch, if going for performance quality components.

I think the OP also said he would get OCUK to build it? Do they even do custom builds to this kind of spec?

Yes they do.
