Hey guys, just want peoples opinions on this.

Having a discussion with someone who has held his license since 17 and driven various cars, clocking up around 10k miles over 3 years....and is looking at 21 (in a years time) to buy an R1 engined kit car as his first car.

^^ such as that.

Now i know it's up to him, and kudos to him for saving etc.....but I can't help but think the statistics are against him, with a rwd car that does 0-60 in sub 4 seconds, as his first car.

Other peoples opinions?

Cheers

If he has the money and wants to get it, then let him. As long as he drives responsibly and not like a boy racer. As already pointed out, 4 years worth of driving, it wont be his first car.

EDIT: there is no way he will be able to use a car like that as an everyday car anyway.

it's only really 1 years worth of driving though :) given that "average" mileage is 10k PA, and they were in mainly low powered FWD cars :)
