I have quite fancied getting involved with photography for some time and I have decided to bite the bullet and have a go. I have done some research and for starting out the 300D seems to be a reasonable candidate.

I have seen a 300D which is just over a year and a half old (no warranty unfortunately), immaculate condition, comes with all the accessories including a EFS18-50 lens. The camera in question has taken nearly 5000 pictures. Which end of the scale is this (nearly new or not worth touching) What should I be looking to pay?

Can anyone give me anymore advice?

Thanks, will do :)

Are there any other essential must haves to add onto the cost? I will need a CF card (512mb seems a very good price) it comes with a leather case and strap which I forgot to mention. I really am overwhelmed by how complex SLR's are compared to my old Canon A70. What kind of things is the standard lens suitable for? Will I get reasonable results from most things minus the extremes (i.e. macro and zooming)? I don't want to have to fork out lots on lenses if I am only just starting, might not even get on with it :p
