After an 'incident' involving a table and her old reliable Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite 5G, she's now using the family spare phone, a Xiaomi Redmi Note 9, and really not enjoying the painfully slow experience...

I'm going to buy her a new phone for Christmas, looking for something at least as fast as her old 10T, 5G, half decent camera, good screen, and good battery life.

Thinking something along the lines of the Xiaomi Poco F5, Honor 90, Samsung Galaxy A34/A54, Honor Magic5 Lite (I have the 5 Pro and love it), any other recommendations please?

Sorry feel like I’m giving out bad advice, should definitely go for the Pixel 7 or 7a at those prices. They are within your budget and considerably more powerful. The Samsung A34 only worth it if on a tight budget. Sorry was only trying to help (embarrassed).

The thing is some people would never consider refurbished or pre owned and if he bought her the Pixel 7a it is a smaller screen which she might not appreciate, that 0.56" could make all the difference :)
Best to give all options.

Thanks for the replies, not sure she'd appreciate refurbished as a present, but if she keeps breaking phones, it might be the way forward!

I hadn't even considered the Pixel, I looked at the Pro myself when I ended up with the Honor instead, I'll have a proper look now.

if you don't go for the 7a deal above, might want to wait until the 12th (ie in 2 days) as there should be a google store sale...who knows what the 7a will be discounted to...
i suspect it will still be slightly more expensive than the tesco offering, but the extra £20-30 might be worth it as you save the hassle of not needing to deal with (1) credit check, (2) cancelling the contract

Why do you think there is going to be a sale in two days?

For new hard to beat the Samsung offerings at that price point but I recently picked up the Sony Xperia 10 V as amongst other things I hate notched or visible camera embedded screens which almost all the alternative options at this price point have.

So far not found any real negatives with it, the screen aspect ratio might be an issue for some and a few things could be better - SoC performance is adequate but behind the best at this price point, screen only 60Hz, camera is just OK which is disappointing given it is Sony though the lack of 4K video recording is the only real issue with it. On the plus side battery life is exceptional, audio quality is good, allows you to choose whether to install the bloat or not which is a big positive.
