3060 vs 4060

Hello all

Looking at upgrading my nephews old 1050TI

Which is better out of the 12GB 3060 or the 8GB 4060?

The 4060 is faster (18% according to TPU here) and has much lower power consumption, but it is usually overpriced (versus the 7600 and 67x0 XT) and may have visual / texture issues in some games that the 3060 doesn't.

Agreed. I’d consider a 6700/800 or even a second hand 3080. I’m running a 3080 10G at 3440x1440p and still getting great performance.

Yeah, the only snag is that if the OP has a weak PSU, then a 4060 or RX 6600 wouldn't increase the power consumption that much, but the other cards are more like 200+.

The PSU is a Corsair CV550 so a decent one albeit lower powered, I think the 4060 may be a winner due to the lower power consumption
