3070ti upgrade path?

Finding the 8gb vram an issue at 1440p with the 3070ti. I've got a fully water-cooled build with 2x 480mm rads and I really don't fancy an air cooled card. That with the 5000 series release it's like a mine field coupled with the fact waterblocks are sparse right now I'm really unsure what to do?

Wait a few months for 5000 series stock to increase and hope waterblocks are produced or take a punt on a 2nd hand 4000 series. The 4070ti super looked ideal with 16gb vram and byski do waterblocks for them but is it a dumb time to be buying a 4070ti super especially when I own a 3070ti that will do 2100mhz all day long.

If you're going to the trouble of buying/fitting a block, I'd want a bigger upgrade really, so would hope for an improved 5070 Ti (though, from what we've seen so far, it won't be by much).

From what we've heard, the manufacturers had very little time to prepare for this release, so it seems likely blocks for the 5000 series are a long way off.

This was my biggest concern I could be waiting quite some time to be honest. There's still a few 4070ti supers floating about that have byski blocks available. I've got one on my 3070ti and it's been great thus far. I don't ever plan on going 4k or playing on my 4k tv so it might seem to look at anything past the 4070ti

Tbh it's not really time consuming or a problem as I tend to keep my kit for quite some time. I only got the 3070ti because I won it(was quite happy with my 1080ti) so it only owes me the cost of the water block really. I just don't want to take a risk with a 5000 series leaving it air cooled for a while to find out no blocks will be produced etc

Maybe worth waiting till march and see how the 9070XT stacks up, RT is much improved while performance is rumoured to be between a 4070ti and 4080, supposedly there will be a lot of stock.

I'm a bit out the AMD loop so was not aware of this. I'll have a look into it as willing to consider AMD if price/performance is on point.

I would not bother with a waterblock for a GPU just be glad to get an upgrade at a decent price and time, also easier to sell the used GPU then too.

Air cooled gpu can not provide me with the level of silence I want/am used too.

My whole build is cooled by 2x 480mm rads running at 20% fan speed. It would be crazy to then put an air cooled gpu in there. I've undervolted/overclocked my cpu and overclocked my gpu I'm getting less then 60⁰c when gaming on the cpu and less than 50⁰c on the gpu with a 61⁰c hot-spot at 20% fan.

Replacing the waterblock with the original air cooled unit is not an issue but I'll probably own it for so long it will be a relic anyway. I've only just last month moved from my 5820k.
