So one of the most demanding games out there is MSFS 2020

Even though its streaming during gameplay its still very demanding, this is one of the main reasons why i want/ed a 3080-3090

But benchmarks show its only a few FPS behind the 2080ti

What is this, the hype the Nvidia reveal show said its was a massive leap in performance from its previous gen.

If this is true then its just like all the previous launches of all GPUs

Its because FS2020 is CPU limited, not GPU. I believe that especially over large cities a thread ends up hammering a single core.

Or, it is nothing to do with Nvidia in this case, its on Microsoft (or, the studio working for them) for their optimisation.

Time to read up on what a CPU bottleneck is, OP

The game is notorious for being a single-threaded hog with poor DX optimization, it doesn't even support DX12

This is what happens when you take an ancient game and try to jazz it up rather than just starting from scratch with a purpose built engine.

Exactly. Once DX12 is supported, it will fly...................excuse the pun :D:D:D
During the period when we were given various maps DX12 was one of the ones i was given. It was like night and day, all 32 threads of my 3950x were utilized. Couple that with a 3080 or 3090 and it will just be the doggies danglies.

ahh ok, that makes sense, was rather worried that the 3080 was trailing behind a 2080ti by 5fps

what we need to see it dx12 games that run on multi core 2080ti vs 3080, that will give a clear picture

Also u mentioned that dx12 will be implemented on msfs2020, is this true?.....

No different to an overclocked 2080ti lmao
Err its a lot cheaper though, compare it with a 2080, probably about 30% min better. People's expectations have been set way too high imo.

But anyway you can't buy one,

But anyway you can't buy one,

you can buy a 2080ti for half the price of the 3080 on eBay

heck you can buy two 2080ti off eBay for the price of one 3080 and SLI them and the 3080 won't be able to touch that

Actually just looked on ebay for 2080ti and 3080, what a joke of a place, with a bunch of sad people. There's going to be a massive glut soon as people realise they can't dump them.

watch this

interesting video

I get that it averages out 20% more over a 2080ti, but the thought that the 3080 struggles to manage at least 60fps at 4k? and the card is suppose to be 8k ready?

I think we will have to wait for proper benches on DX12 games that utilise all the cores and see what the 30 series does.

Keeping stable is 60 fps is tricky less due to the GPU and more due to the game's API limitations. But this isn't the 8K marketed card, that's the 3090.
