Hi all,

me FE 3080's idle clocks wont drop below 1710mhz. Previously this has been due to my dial monitors one of which is 240HZ model however I've tried unplugging my second monitor completely and setting my main monitors refresh rate to 60hz but the idle speed stays high along with power usage.

The power setting is as optimal power as well.

Any ideas?

If you have windows 10 you can ctrl+alt+del and look at GPU usage per process in the list and find anything which is causing GPU acceleration. It can happen due to decoding of video, some browser tabs can cause GPU acceleration and broadcast-like features such as OBS can also do this. One common culprit for this I've found is Nvidias Geforce Exerpeince, if you have instant reply enabled it'll be constantly recording the last X many minutes of your screen even when on desktop. If you have Nvidia experience installed the default key to open up the overlay is Alt + Z and just check if Instant replay is on (green).

I had this issue before, it was an nvidia setting which i had previously set to high performance. Set that back to optimal power and it downclocks properly again.

P.s. im running dual monitors as well.

Here's the winner!
+1 Found this was the issue on my card as well. Turning off broadcast reduced the clock from 1740 to 210 Mhz. Maybe that's something for NVDA to look at in future BIOS driver updates, though idk how computationally expensive broadcast is.
