Hi would you say it's still a good deal to get a 3080 for £750 or would I better off going with something newer

What resolution you running?

If you talking the 10GB version -NAh. ......................Sem'fiddy was MSRP for mid range AIB's

12GB version is a different card.

That money I'd be looking at a 3090 2nd hand

OR if ray tracing isn't a must (cripples performance anyway).

This new with warranty - up there with a 3090 all day long.

I have a 3070 would a 3080
Make much of a jump up was thinking about getting a 3080 second hand

It's enough that 4K might be playable with the 3080 when the 3070 isn't (depending on settings obv), but I personally wouldn't, because inter-generational upgrades are usually very bad value (price/perf) wise.

6800xt for 599
Where? cheapest is 649

i do not think the new Ada based RTX cards are worth it this generation probably better to give them a miss and wait it out for the refresh and if you need a RTX card pick one up on the cheap or second hand are a very good deal just make sure you get a good one. :D

I have not tried an AMD card for years after having many issues but I am tempted to give them another try

Which brand of AMD card would you go for these days
Most people will recommend Sapphire. Powercolour are pretty good too, but their 7900xt reference model only has a 1 year warranty. Their Hellhound has a 3 year warranty.

I always favour getting the cheapest GPU of a certain architecture that I can. Unless it's known to be a bad cooler or have specific problems.
For the 7900xt I would be looking at the Sapphire reference @899 on OCUK or the Powercolour Hellhound wherever it's cheapest.

The Inno 4070ti is also very competetive at £799.

I wouldn't be tempted by any more expensive models for 7900xt or 4070ti. Instead, if I wanted to spend more, I would look at the cheapest 7900xtx or RTX4080 models I could get.
