hey guys,

I forgot to use DDU before I removed my GPU..new one arrives on Tuesday, it's a 4000 series card, what im wondering is if the drivers are dirrefent for the 3000 vs. 4000 and therefore will need to be reinstalled?

im considering a full wipe of W11 anyway, but if recommended no point...then I will leave it be.

cheers.

The 3090 lasted long

No the drivers aren’t different but it might be worth reinstalling them anyway with a clean install after putting the new card in.

thanks for the response, and yeah, I just had this feeling something was off...I dunno, I mean things seemed ok but I do think there was a cooling issue. (fans ramped up full briefly under minimal load etc..)

and I think that's a good idea, I will do a fresh install once I get the new card in.

If you got shot of a card because of a funny feeling, then please do a fresh install of your OS with the new card, for your own sanity :p :D

Mabye, but to keep temps and noise, I was lowering the power limit, therefore losing more performance overall.

I mean drawing over 300+ watts against 190w or thereabouts, makes more sense to me.

Same reason I got the 4070 Ti.. similar or slightly better performance whilst being practically silent and drawing top 300 watts vs 500 watts on the 3090… I do miss the 24GB VRAM for 4k but yes considering I got it for £680 iirc which is not a bad price
