Been a while since I’ve built anything and newer connections and hardware is a little confusing compared to older kit lol

i have a splitter cable from the gpu for 3 pci connections to the psu. I have two for my rm1000x which are labelled cpu but are essentially pci connections?

however, the only other ones I have look like pci/cpu connections but one pin is missing…..is this an issue?

edit - the cable I have with a pin missing is almost like a y cable. One to psu and two coming off it. I was going to use two single cables to two ports on the gpu and one of the y type cables to the other. Is that ok?

or

csn I use a y cable to two ports on the gpu and then a single?

confused….

You should have 6 ports on that psu than can be used for CPU and PCIE/GPU. In your bag of cables you should have enough 6+2pin pcie cables for that GPU. I've got the 850w version.

Yeah, got plenty of the cables but I noticed the two which split out, have a pin missing on the single end (psu end). Is that just the make up due to the split?

Without seeing what you are here are what the pinouts should be. Each cable should have a label.

I have two pci/cpu cables which split into two…so one psu connected with two pci/cpu on the other end.

However, those split cables don’t have a pin out for the square pin on the psu end. Both are the same and I’m wondering if they are down to a wiring configuration due to the y split?

If you look at the chart that hyperseven linked, you can see that Corsair PCI-E 8 pins don't have the pin you mention, it says "no wire" on the PSU end.

On the device end, GPU and CPU cables are not interchangeable, but in many modular PSUs, you can plug the cable into a 'universal' port (on the PSU end) that supports either.

In THG's review of the RM1000x (2021 version) you should have 3 cables for PCI-E, each with 2 connectors. You will also have 3 cables for the CPU, each with 1 connector, but you can't plug that in here.

It is best to use 1 cable, per connected connector (i.e. avoid daisy chain).

The three cables I have with cpu on are the single ended cables and are fully pinned.

the three pci-e cables I have are the ones which go from a single connector, with the square port not pinned, to 2 connectors in a y configuration 6+2 connector on the end.
I’ve obviously used one of the cpu cables for the cpu.

so, which do I use to feed the the 3x8pin splitter from the gpu?

seems my cables dont match those in that link :-/

If I'm understanding you correctly, use all three PCI-E cables and only connect one connector from each (so you'll have a dangley 6+2 off each cable). It's going to create a mess, but that's the recommended config.

Sorry been walking the pup.

those Y cables sound right as I just cable-tied the extra 6+2 (dangly bit) back onto the main cable. I am using three like that one for each of the GPU 8-pin connectors.
