As title really. Quite badly too. Will get me in trouble on a roundabout soon.

Any ideas as to what might cause it? In 2nd and above it's fine. Just Kangaroos from standing still and even if I hit *** throttle in first gear.

Plugs are new (couple of thousand miles), as is the oil.

Nothing has been disturbed and only did it on the way home.

Tried switching off and restarting which didn't make a difference.

Any ideas?

My old E30 318i started to have this problem, it would lose all power even at speed. In the end to fix the problem I sold it, luckily it was fine on the buyers test drive :D

You're not just dropping the clutch in a stupid fashion so it bounces on and off? If not it could be a knackered cluth I suppose. Ignition wise I would have thought it would effect you more than just pulling away.

Was the car cold.. maybe your auto choke is stuffed?

The first time it did it the temp was about a third (normal about a half) but it kept doing it even when up to temp.

The clutch did cross my mind but it feels like it's struggling to get enough fuel/ignition. Even if I pull away lightly you can feel the kangarooing.

check for a air leak from the air box (filter) theres a rubber neck section from the airbox , check for little holes/slits , is it the m42 engine?

around 30 quid for a new one from the dealer

Exactly what was wrong with mine. I payed £45, but hey. It was fine afterwards.
