I want to order LCD HDTV over the next few weeks.
It will be used as the following
50% xbox360
20% DVD's (will buy an upscaling DVD player soon)
20% PC (if its fine for browsing might get rid of 19inch CRT totally)
10% HDTV from a HTPC, divx etc.

Viewing distance will be about 90-100 inches away (about 2.5-3.0m). I presume a 32inch TV will be fine for this distance.
Budget is max of £1200 but ideally don't want to spend this much, so which should it be
samsung LE32M61B
or LG 32LX2R 32" HD LCD.
Samsung is more expensive and out of stock nearly everywhere.
LG gets good reviews hear, is cheaper and in stock.

It is worth noting that I may move this TV into another room in 1-2 years time so I could go for the cheaper LG which should be fine for my needs and then get one of the new LCD revisions in a couple of years.
I also need a surround sound set-up, would the Logitech Z-5500 be sufficient for DVD and xbox360 use.

Thanks,
Oneilldo

I'd say based on your needs of only 20% DVD get the LG mate. Got mine a few days ago and for pc/htpc/360 it's the dogs danglies. And if got a dvd upscaler then it doesn't matter at all.

Thanks for the reply. I agree with you. Whilst the new samsung looks like the dogs danglies, I can spend the rest on some form of surround sound set up and the pub.

The 20% DVD will probably be 30-40%, is the DVD picture really good(or better than an average CRT) if you get an upscaling DVD drive/HTPC?

Any advice on surround sound set up, don;t want to spend more than £400 for everything?

Is a 32inch TV about right for a 2.5m sitting distance?
Has anyone used the Logitech Z-5500 with an xbox and for watching DVDs and is it any good? The next speakers up have wireless rears, do you lose any quality etc if you go for the wireless ones.

I have my xbox 360 and dvd player through the Z-5500 and it sounds fine, easily as good as any of the other surround kits I tried that were in a similar price range.

Thanks for the help. I am the proud owner of the z-5500's and the LCD TV.
I am very very impressed with the TV (even the missus commented on some of the HDTV clips via the xbox 360). As a PC monitor it seems very impressive too.
All I need now is a wireless keyboard and then I can easily browse from the comfort of the sofa.
