32/64 bit?

hello,

i have an old motherboard and processor lying around, i need to work out if it is able to run a 64 bit OS. I know theres ways of doing it if it had an OS installed but at the moment itts on it own and not running anything,

Whats the best way to work out what it it before i spend time and effort inot building it and money on getting a PSU for it>

if thats the only way im going to have to clean it up, its got a load of thermal paste dried on the face as i havent used it for a year

Do i need dets from the mother board too?

im presuming it is to, although there was no E inscribed on the chip itself before the '6400'

Can the motherboard affect whether or not 64bit os will run?

Thats definately the processor just found a pic of ad E6400 on google and it doeesnt have the E enscribed on it. Thank you

does the mother board afffect if 64bit os can runn or is it only dependant on the CPU?
