I'm running a Q6600 on vista 64, all was good with the windoiws world, I ran firefox as my default browzer and boinc of course n(32-bit version)

Came to me PC around 5ish and firefox left a message cannot connect - network indicator says local and intenet - other machines are OK to.

Tried restart, now messenger stops working and BOINC and get the errors they cannot start, let vista diagnoese and fails to connect

Uninstall NIC driver - vista puts it bck on and all diagnostics say OK.

Remove dvice and find it again same issue, try connecting with IE7 x64 and wham straigh to msn, d/l BOINC x64 and wahay 4 units a crunching.

Tried system restore which only let me go back a systen checkpoint at 16:53 - coincidence?

Anyway this has happened before but I wasn't so careful with how. Only option is fresh install - unless you clever chaps and chappesses know somnething and will share????

Thanks in advance:)

I forgot to comment: the solution in my case was to uninstall NOD 32. Even without a reboot everything started to work fine. And what is more weird: i reinstalled nod32 and no problem since then. I suppose vista still has some issues to deal with. Many, indeed. Hope this helps someone. Cheers.

There you go folks and the reinstall seems OK for now:)

I had no idea about that - but good lad for posting a solution even though you found it. So many people don't bother doing this. That's not as big as gripe as people not thanking each other once other's have found the answer to a problem.
