Hi

Getting a new PC soon and I'm not sure whether to get the 32bit Vista OS or the 64bit OS.

I know that 64 bit can use 4 gb if I had 4 gb RAM but is there actually any difference at all apart from the RAM because I can easily just get 3GB RAM for a 32bit system.

Will mainly be used for doing uni work (microsoft office etc) and a bit of gaming of course.

So pros and cons of 32bit/64bit? Will most apps work on the 64 bit version? And which one to get preferably?

Thanks in advance!

download Win 7.

use that untill it is released

then buy win 7 :) no point spending money on vista now.

also there is a good offer starting in a few weeks for pre-order of windows 7

£50 for windows 7 home premium £80 for Windows 7 professional

also 64bit you want :)

The extra RAM and application support mainly.

But there's no point in getting 32-bit anymore, I mean what if you want to upgrade your RAM?

i was thinking of getting windows vista 32bit or 64bit with the windows upgrade option for free anyway so is it still better to just use windows 7?

thanks for the reply, most likely get 64 bit i guess if everything works fine on it! was worried some of my current apps won't work on it

Everything works with 64bit, only stupidly old apps.

Where at a point now where 32bit o/s are completely useless IMO.
