32 bit or 64 bit (win7)?

No, no, no, no, no. This thread is full of fail.

If you have 64-bit, install 64-bit, even if you only have 2GB of RAM. At the end of the day it will run at the same speed, you can run both 32-bit and 64-bit apps, and if you ever upgrade to 4GB+ of RAM, then you don't need to re-install.

32-bit is dead.

No point in 32-bit anymore as 32-bit apps will run just fine on a 64-bit application without any issues.

The only area that I have encountered issues is installing older games, but there is usually a patch from the developer that will fix it.

sorted.

Hi,

Following on from the points raised in this thread, am I correct in assuming that my microsoft office applications such as office 2003 and office 2007 will all run under Windows 7 64 bit?

Will the install of the office applications need any customisation when installing onto a machine with Win7 64 bit or will it all be automatic in the background? I am not sure if the office applications themselves are 32 bit or 64 bit or both versions on the installation CD's

Thx for any advice.

Hi,

Our support team have processed your request and have found during extensive testing that both Office Professional 2003, and Office Professional Plus 2007 are fully functional under Windows 7 64-bit (all revisions).

Our team would also like to point your attention to the open public beta of Office 2010, which is available natively (for the first time in the Office suite history) in 64-bit binaries. The installer for which can be obtained through the sign-up process here.

We appreciate your response, and aim to help wherever possible.

Regards,

The OcUK Forums.

64 bit version will run fine. When and if you upgrade your RAM to 4Gb the 64 bit version will take full advantage of this where as the 32 bit version would not.

Merry Christmas
