Hi, just a quick question regarding running 32 bit software on 64 bit vista home premium... I've had a quick (not thorough) look on these forums and using google, and can't find any explanation for this program failing to install unless it has 16 bit drivers or something... Anyway, I was just wondering is there a way to get around this problem and use this software on my 64 bit OS.... or If there is no hope and I just wasted my keystrokes.

It is a CAD program that school let you have, but the problem is I'm meant to be using it to draw some of my products on it, and If I can't use it at home I have to do it at school.... which would be a real pain in the ...neck.

From the website:
(3) Windows Vista Ultimate, Business and Enterprise editions only (SP0 or higher).

(4) Windows Vista 64-bit is supported for SolidWorks 2008 SP3.1 or higher. The Education Edition, Student
Edition, and Student Design Kit are supported after the 2008-2009 academic school year.

From what I gather you'll need 64-bit install media which includes Service Pack 3.1 or later..
You might be able to get a login for their website and download it or your school might be able to help get hold of it

(...you use SolidWorks at school? I was stuck with just ProDesktop for 5 years at mine ;_; )

Not sure why it would be compatible with the business editions and not home but what can I say.

Thanks for finding that.. I was looking in the wrong area on the website :o

So yeah, I suppose I'll just see if school has a login for me to use... funny though, the label on front of case says 2009-2010, so I'd have assumed that updates from the 2008 version would be included... unless it's just exactly the same with a different date on it.

Also, We had ProDesktop up until last year, all the teachers now telling us how much better solid works is :)

Beaten to it... freakishly.
Thanks to you also :)
