Currently have it thro component set to 720p as max res, is that right or should i tick 1080i aswell (even tho tv doesnt support?)

The TV will probably support it, it will just use its internal scaler to alter the res to fit the number of pixels it has.

To be honest, I would probably stick with 720p. You probably won't notice any difference between that and 1080i when the res is 1366x768.

Maybe.

Not so sure with slower paced adventure games or those locked at 30fps...
Indeed. Enchanted Arms for example looked better in 1080i (at least I think so). I often find 1080i better regardless of title.

On the PS3 if you check both boxes it will automatically select between them when you enter the game depending on which is best.

Fair point but in general more games look better at 720p than 1080i and unless you want to switch all the time between the 2 then I reckon 720p is the best bet :)

With the PS3 it matters less as it doesn't upscale. If the game is a 720p game, that is what it will output too. Very few games will output in 1080i and you will find that probably every game you have will play in 720p no matter what.

I would leave it at 1080i, when you load games it goes down to 720p anyway.

The reason i would leave it on 1080i is for movies, if you leave it at 720p it plays the movie at 480p instead of 720p for some reason so ive heard.

Have you tried this? The PS3 doesn't upscale movies. The highest res I get for a movie was 576p

Yeah, I thought so!

I kept switching between 720p and 1080i and i didnt see a difference in the games... mainly playing motorstorm.

On a side note, i've downloaded a few demoes and ive noticed quite allot of slowdown...

Again this is probably because they're demo's.

Anyway, what TV's you guys running. I got a Toshiba 32WLT58

The only slowdown I've encountered is with MotorStorm, it's horrific at some points later on in the game!

Anyway, I am on a Toshiba 32WLT66.

Same TV. 360 connected 1080i via Component. How's your PS3/360/Wii connected?

360 connected at 720p via Component.
PS3 connected at 1080i via HDMI.
Wii connected via Scart :o (or will be).
