Hi all,

I am currently using an Asus ROG PG27AQ monitor and am considering upgrading to a 32" monitor which would need to be 4K.

GFX card I'm running is a 1080ti. As far as games played and my gaming spectrum I generally stick to MMOs. No FPS or MOBAs played. Witcher 3 and games of such ilk are played.

Can I please get some recommendations for the best monitor to pick for £1k or under.

Contenders thus far:

Acer UM.CZ1EE.P01 Predator Z35P 35-Inch Curved 1800R Ultra-Wide WQHD Gaming Monitor with G-Sync - Black/Red

Acer Predator Z35 35 inch Widescreen Curved Monitor (21:9, VA, LED, 144 Hz, 4 ms, G-Sync v2, 100M:1, Euro/UK, Acer EcoDisplay) - Black/Red

Acer 34-Inch X34A QHD Curved Monitor (Silver/Black) - (100M:1, 3440 x 1440, 300cd/m2, 4ms, DisplayPort/HDMI)

Acer Predator XB321HK 32 inch 4K2K IPS Gaming LED Monitor with G-Sync, HDMI, Display Port and Height Adjustable

Cheers.

Z35 is a no straight away, it's 1080p Ultrawide.

I've had both the X34A and the XB321HK and they're both v v good monitors. It all comes down to whether you prefer the Ultrawide aspect or the normal 16:9 tbh. Myself I stuch with the Ultrawide, only because 100Hz was the sweet spot in terms of smoothness too.

Personally I think a 32" 16:9 will be too big (have a 27" 16:9 now)
If you do get a Ultra wide, 29" 1080p is a good PPI, but physical height of the screen is too small, it's the same height as a 24" 16:9. So you need to go up to a 34" Ultra Wide, and make sure you get a 1440p screen.

Positives for UW is when you watch 2:35 movies it uses 100% of the screen. Negatives are that 4:3 and 16:9 movies have borders on the sides. Wish TV's were available in 2:35.

For gaming not all games support 2:35 but they do appear to give a very wide peripheral view. Plus good for desktop and indeed in portrait view, if you do newspaper type designs.

I only use it for gaming and generally only MMOs. I just fancy a larger screen. The PC I built is way overpowered for what I use it for to be honest but I wanted something that would last several years without needing to be upgraded incrementally.

Games that I generally play are FFXIV & TESO. I use it for browsing and occasionally word processing documents. I don't do any kind of design or video editing. I don't use it to watch movies on as that's done on the lounge TV.

4K is a must for gaming on.

Can anyone offer any absolute models that they would recommend. It would also be helpful if it had an additional HMDI socket that supports 4K so that I can occasionally plug in the PS4 Pro also.

Many thanks for taking the time to read and help me out with this. There are just so many makes and models out there and if I am spending a grand on an upgrade then I would like it to be as good as I can get and fit my requirements for use. So any firm makes & models recommended would be gratefully received.

Cheers all.

This seems like a decent vid by HWC showing the differences;

As said, I've tried all aspect-ratios (inc gaming monitors) and find (for me) that Ultrawide 3440x1440p@100Hz with Gsync is the absolute sweet-spot with today's tech (i'm mainly a gamer, but it's great for movies too) :)

Hope this helps.
