I'm thinking of getting one of these monitors and can't decide whether to get the flat or curved version.

They're pretty much identical other than 2nd is 1700R curved.

Use is programming, browsing and gaming. Tiny bit of photo editing, but only brightness etc..
Any advice? Anyone get a curved and wish they didnt?

Given qd-oled has such good viewing angles, is it just not worth it?
When I got my current 27" monitor, even the edges of that don't point at me, so was leaning towards curved.

It's odd that the flat screen above has 30 reviews, but not 1 on the curved. Do people avoid curved monitors now?

Flat for me also. I have a stigmatism, and found that I couldn't get away with the curve and returned mine for the current one in sig. For me, I also didn't like how it distorted things at the extremes.

What curve do you have?
The original one I had, before the one in sig, was the Philips Evnia 32M2C3500L 32 inch QHD 180Hz Curved VA Gaming Monitor

probably reason why I found 1800R ideal for 27"

I have a 27" flat and would have liked a small curve, 1900R would be fine also.

What you could do is get piece of flexible plastic sheet - or somethig similar like scrap of lino - measure to 27", 32", 34" ultra wide, draw horizontal and vertical lines, place the center where the screen would be , then bend edge towards you marking out different curve ratios then determine what is the preferred curve, so the lines all look straight without distortion

I've had both 32" curved and flat recently and I would definitely recommend the flat. After a while on the curved monitor when I would temporarily switch to a flat monitor then any straight horizontal line would look convex.

Pure gaming then I think curved is ok.

But if you want to do general desktop tasks on it as well as gaming and have never had a curved before then I would go flat.

I've gone through more monitors than I'm willing to admit and curved has only ever helped on a 34" (and bigger I presume) ultrawide. My 32" flat actually felt bigger than the 32" curved that preceded it. There's something about having a curve on a smaller screen (I use the term loosely) that feels claustrophobic.

Stick with flat, unless you're planning on sitting 6" from your screen.

I was somewhat averse to curved, tried 2 of the koorui 27" and due to the terrible support from the place I purchased them they both went back.
Was like constant neck ache I think going from one side to the other.

Im now on 2 Philips Evnia 32" - 32M2C5501 curved.

Must say I'm much happier with these and Ambilight is awesome (I already had it on a TV)

There is a massive glut of 27"s from a load of relatively little known manufacturers atm offering great VFM

Looks amazing I have to say. The supplied DP cable included is very short, barely 1m.
If I keep this display to 10bit 4k 165hz, no DSC is applied with 13.5x4 DP link speeds being used.

Not a fan of curved or ultra-wides personally. I 'get it' for some purposes, but I still think 90% of the time, it's just the new trend/fad, like 3D was.

The best thing that you can do, is try both for yourself, and just go with what you feel works best for you. Otherwise you might regret blindly buying the wrong one - having said that, you can't go wrong with a flat screen :)

Ended up ordering this one. The MSI 322 (DP 2.1) version is no-where. Plus Gigabyte doing Christmas promotion. Hopefully arrives tomorrow! :D
Very nice, I considered that one myself aswell, in the end I got a better price on the MSI and I really didn't want another monitor with the style of stand the Gigabyte uses which I find I have always smacked my mouse into the legs off, had it accross multiple different monitors and just gets on my nerves. The flatter sqaure stand of the very new Gigabytes MO series and the ones used by MSI are much better I think, of course if you put it on a VESA stand it doesn't matter.

isnt there problems with older games and even new ones fitting screen right. curved are best for simulation like flight sim Elite etc.

Wouldn't the perfect answer be a monitor that could be both flat and curved depending on what you want.

You just set something in the menu and it automatically curves or goes flat.

Could even do degrees of curve.
