I am about to buy the LG 32LX2R TV and attempt to permanently use it as my monitor and TV etc. Does anyone else do this with another 32" TV? If so how do you find the res etc? Are things too big? Is the screen too big to use? When using windows I will be sitting about 3.5 / 4 foot from the screen.

Thanks in advance.

I have the 32LX2R, and I use it for PC use & Xbox 360 / DVD / HD stuff.

I don't think I could use it as a PC monitor any closer than 5 feet. But I have the TV at the end of my bed, so I'm using it at a distance of around 7 feet, which is perfect for DVD / Xbox360, but maybe a tad too far for PC use at 1360x768.

However if I was using my PC more seriously then this setup wouldn't really work..

I have a wireless keyboard and mouse and use that sitting on the bed just fine.

If you were sitting at a desk then I'd say the 26" version would be a better bet. I went for the 32" version because I thought it was more important to have a big screen for Xbox360 / DVD watching and sacrifice the PC element.

But if you're using it for 90% PC then 26" would be the better plan.

I have a wireless keyboard and mouse so I could do that. I mainly want the big screen for watching DVD's / things off the PC. I do some development work from time to time. How feasible is doing any kind of work about 3 ft away from this at a desk? Also the text on the screen doesn't look huge in all the screenshots I have seen, is this just the case in the pictures? For example if you were 3ft away would the text be huge? Are you able to play games in front of yours? Say if you had it on a desk?

Thanks

Ian

I work at home most days as a software dev and my acer laptop died a few weeks back so I have been relegated into the living room to use the HTPC on a 40" sammy TFT. It's certainly usable at 1360 * 768 but no substitute for sitting at a desk with a proper TFT at a high resolution. I sit around 5 feet away on the sofa with a wireless keyboard and mouse on the coffee table. Biggest problem I have is getting a sore neck as although my TV is on a normal height AV stand the sofa is lower than a proper desk chair and the TV size makes me look up a lot so get a sore neck.

If your planning on using a keyboard on a bed or sofa you want to think carefully about how it will work as it can often be really uncomfortable if you need to do it for any length of time.

Theres some people who say they are used to the 3007 dell monitor which is 30". Is the reason you couldn't have this at a desk because of the res?
My desk would allow my eyes to be 39" away from the monitor (approx :) ), which is a fair way back.
I am going into Richer Sounds tomorrow armed with a laptop to see if I can hack it at that distance. I will go with a tape measure and measure exactly 39" from the TV!!
