Hi,

Looking to get a TV for the bedroom, the only things I would really use on it would be Plex, just wondering if anyone had any recommendations, TVs in this range are few and far between, just wondering if it would be better to get a plain old TV with few features and chuck an Amazon Fire TV box on it, or to get one with Plex compatibility?

Was eyeing up the SAMSUNG UE32J5100 as a cheap and cheerful unit on Richer Sounds, or possibly the SONY BRAVIA KDL32R503CBU?

Basic Telly & Fire TV box would be my plan. Its all very well the Manufacturers putting these apps on tellies, but what happens if a content producer decides to change the type of format it broadcasts (example being flash based content to HTML5 based)

An older telly isn’t going to support that without a firmware update from the manufacturer, I doubt that said manufacturer is willing to do that on all its required models, it would rather you buy a new telly from them methinks.

better off buying a media box that the content provider makes for that purpose, that way it will provide firmware updates as and when to keep the box up to date and add new software features.

Exactly what I was thinking. Will go cheap and cheerful, at the end of the day will only be used for bedtime viewing.
