im just about to purchase a 32" ferguson hdtv that supports full 1080p, its only £200 so its a pretty good price, but there are a few things im worrying about

is vista now going to look really bloated and upscaled becuase of the bigger screen size? or will it automatically adjust to a much higher resolution?

and i currently have a OC 9600GT, and it plays games very smoothly on my current monitor, can i expect massive slowdown on games like call of duty 4 at these higher resolutions and will they look worse?

im soon going to pugrade to a 4870 x2 anyway, but i just wanted to know what to expect, any help would be appreciated, thanks

Full 1080p is 1920x1080, which I would expect would be the resolution that Vista runs at on that TV. A 32" 1920x1080 screen will have a high dot pitch, meaning that each pixel is larger than normal for a computer monitor; this resolution (well, 1920x1200) is most common on 24" monitors but is also used for 26-28". Everything on screen will be a bit larger than it would be on, say, a 24" of the same resolution. There shouldn't be any upscaling going on though - it should be sharp, but comparatively big.

I think a 9600GT would be fine for 1920x1080 as long as you don't push it too hard; CoD 4 seems okay from looking at benchmarks in reviews. You may not be able to crank the detail way up in all games though.

awesome, thanks for your help, ive decided to go for a 26" inch so that i can get a good res without a high dot pitch, and so the 9600 doesnt struggle too much

thanks again for your help
