I was going to get myself 640MB gts edition by bfg and then went to check sum reviews of 320 gts on anandtech. The way I see it performs as good as 640 on resolution up to 1200*1600 (and in some games better, probably due it being overclocked). Now I don't play higher than that resolution cause I have 19" CRT and i don't plan to invest into a bigger monitor for quite some time. Can any1 tell me if the 320 gts will be able to run crysis-like (by that i mean new generation) games games on mid-high setting? Or **** i opt for 640 mb and spend an extra 100 quid for double ram?

BTW I am not planning to keep this card for too long, probably for 6-8 months till 8800/8900 gtx drop in prices.

thanx

I think you have already answered your own question.........
the 320mb will do the job fine if you intend to move up within a year, next generation games should work fine, otherwise most of us are in trouble ! :)

Going by that, I would say just get the 320mb.

However if you didn't add that last sentance in, I would've said get the 640mb :) IMO it'll last longer, I rekon we're gonna see in-game textures get a lot more detailed and take up more graphics card memory when Cyrsis, etc, are out.

If your intention is to buy for next gen games such as Crysis and you are only intending to keep the card for a short period of time. Would it not be far wiser to wait until the next generation of games hit the shelf before buying a new card?

The next best graphics card from both Nvidia and ATI could be released before the next gen game.

Thanks guys, took a while to get any answers to my post. As for waiting for the latest gfx cards to get released (8900 r600) and get them well i wont do it for 2 reasons:
1. I am stuck with a x800 gfx card and i really don't like its performance, the rest of my rig is E6400 w/c @ 3.2Ghz, EVGA 680i and team xtreem 6400 2 gig ram. So you can see why I want a new gfx card asap.
2. I never buy the latest when it gets released, too expensive. I was considering gtx card but not for the sum the want for it. Call me cheap but i never thought that investing 400 quid into a gfx card thats gonna be old hat in a half a year is feasable.

Still not sure whether I **** got for 320 or 640. I would like to max AA and AF on games I play and I will probably run crysis on it unless it gets delayed again so im thinking I will get 640 megs one (considering it lost 10 quid off its price in the past 3 days). Thanx for your help anyways guys :D
