pfft i hear you say
im looking at my server 2016 mediaportal htpc that runs with a 8320&16gb RAM,ssd, it also host a few hyper-v vm's so the core count comes in quite handy though there not cpu taxing.
It does the job very well, its paired with a ATi passive gpu to deal with any decoding. for the most part i dont think it needs upgrading. but the apu's are tempting as i can do away with the ancient gpu (3450?!) and cut on the power costs with future proofing it.
do you think its a worthy upgrade? the cost to replace the cpu/mb/ram is ~£200 and i can sell the parts to offset that so in real terms your probably looking ~£100 for the upgrade.

other than the 8320 is a 120w processor in a machine that is on 24/7, it probably never breaks a sweat though!
