I have a work pc with a 3200g in it, is it worth adding a GPU to game would it need a new cpu too.

Is the 3200g core the same as a 3600 or 5600?

no, the 3200g core is the Zen+ architecture (ie the same as the vanilla 2000 series ryzen)
yes it is worth adding a gpu to it, something like the rx 580 8gb will make it a decent esports/1080p gaming rig, assuming the psu has enough power
if your psu is low wattage then consider a gtx 1050ti/gtx 1650

even adding the 1050ti is a 2.5-3x gpu performance boost in comparison to the igpu of the 3200g
also, you don't have the ram usage that the igpu requires...especially important if you only have 8/16gb ram
and the thermal output of the igpu...so cooler cpu

100% would recommend for a basic budget build
(i previously chucked in a 1050ti to my friend's 2200g/8gb ram computer and they said it was basically like having a new pc)

As mentioned a discrete GPU will be likely much much faster, but you may still be CPU bound.

Depending on your usage and motherboard you could also potentially buy a newer generation chip (5600G/5700G maybe) with onboard graphics which will be faster in both CPU & iGPU performance but again a disrete card will likely be faster if you're gaming.

If your motherboard/bios/cpu supports ReBar/SAM, then the Intel ARC A380 could be a relative "bargain" upgrade over your Vega 8 Integrated graphics

Yes guys 16gb of ram. 500w good psu(can’t remember off the top of my head what I put in but I don’t trust budget psu’s)
Motherboard is a B450 aorus pro.
But I have a gaming pc so not wanting to spend a load on it.

Games yes just basic stuff not planning on any triple A’s.

This is actually a really good link thank you.
