well its time to get rid of my 3000xp barton and im think of getting one of the above 3200,3500,3700 but things are a bit on the tight side :( just wondering will i notice much in games from say a 3200-3700 main games i play are coduo and cod 1.5 dont wanna splash out 150 quid if 3200 for 90 will be about same .
even though of the 3000 for 70.00 but will it be much of a increase from my athy3000 xp ? oh also which is best cpu cooler for 10-15 quid thanks any drop in prices soon pls. :D

i bought tne 3700 and artic cooler pro last week, I can't compare it to an xp3200 but I can tell you it clocked to 2.75 really easily
 
If you're going to overclock, then the Venice core 3000/3200/3500 will probably all reach about the same maximum speed, often somewhere above 2.7 GHz. Remember also that they have 512 KB cache.

San Diegos are basically a 1 MB cache version of the Venice and tend to reach the same sort of speeds, again, often above 2.7 GHz. So the only difference really would be the amount of cache.

I suggest you do a bit of research yourself into how big a performance difference you'll experience with the extra cache, since on average you'll get the same clockspeed out of them. But if you want a number on it, don't expect more than around 5-7% depending on application.

So a 3000 Venice for £70 or a 3700 San Diego for £120... if you're overclocking you'll probably get similar performance and save yourself £50. Either put that into a better motherboard, memory or graphics card. Or just take the missus out for dinner to stay in the good books AFTER an upgrade.

If you DON'T overclock, then the difference between the 3200 and 3500 will be a maximum of 10%, sometimes less; the difference between 3500 and 3700 will be 5-7%, meaning 3700 will be approx 15% faster than 3200.

It's up to you.
 
At this point the manufacturing process is mature enough that pretty much all the chips could be binned at the highest levels. Sure, YMMV, but I'd expect 2.7 GHz out of pretty much any Venice core. For every one that got stuck at 2.5 GHz, there is one that made 2.9 GHz.
 
3700 plus artic freezer pro 64 as per many other people.

perfect setup and simple to clock. see sig (not bothered pushing it any further as it's great as it is!)
 
I got my 3200 venice to 2.5 and ima noob at overclocking. Thinking about gettng a freezer 64 and try get 2.7 but i think it will be a waste of money :eek:

2.5 is fine imo
