On the market again. Had enough of the little niggles i've had over the year with my Ibiza FR. Test drove one today and the refinement, drive quality and noise level was sooo much better, reminds me of why i should never have sold my 525D SE (though at the time i needed money and the profit was huge as i got it under special circumstances).
Looking for a lowish mileage one with roughly 70-80k and possibly 05-56 plate. What should i be looking out for in terms of service history and known faults etc..? Hoping to see about 7.5k for part EX and overall budget of 10k -ish with max around 10.5k, is this doable?

Cheers all!

I was thinking along those lines as well. Though i have found a 56' 330D thats done 81k, FSH etc.. and looks to be in quite good shape for 11k, will go and have a look when i can.

I know, hence why i'm carrying two mechanics, mate of mine who does check overs for the AA and a mate whos a VW dealership mechanic. We're a bit dubious, its a trader but who knows? lol.

Got me a 06 320D SE with 49k on the clock and immaculate condition for 12k, this includes 8k for the ibiza px. Has a few extra goodies though no leather as i'm a bit allergic to it.

Hey, guess what i thought were extras were actually standard! :D Not sure if the multifunction wheel, professional CD, rear parking, heated seats and dual climate are though? I'll post some pics when i actually take pictures but theres nothing really special, just another 320D :)

Little question. When i put the immobiliser fob into the slot a 'boing' happens and a steering display with a lock comes on. However it starts fine. Any thoughts? I think it dosen't do this with the other immobiliser fob, will have to check when i go home.

Its erroring 100% now on both keys as soon as the fob is in the slot. However, the older looking 'well used' fob seemed to make that racheting sound sometimes whilst with the newer looking one you can clearly hear the lock for the steering engage and disengage like butter and the car starts everytime, the lock works fine without me touching the wheel so its not jamming but the error comes up, i wonder if the error is not being cleared but was caused by the other fob somehow or if a sensor is naf? Dealer asked me to come in Saturday morning.

Dealer is ordering a new steering column and hopefully by next weekend it'll be sorted. :) The mechanic said hes done 6 cars this year with the same issue and knows of other BMW dealership mechanics with the issue.

Just an update, finally got the column in last weekend. Touch wood i've had no other issue and it seems to be working fine now. I've made inquiries into the alpine upgrade, the stock system really is not cutting it as a daily driver.
